Tai Chi, QiGong and Focusing rolled into one

QI GONG AND FOCUSING AMALGUM

Qigong and Focusing are perfect partners. TaiChi slows you down and carries you into the subtle realms of energy.  These places of mystery and boundless space can be hard for newcomers to tolerate. Focusing offers the skills to stay with what arises and trust in the process,.. Both share an emphasis on the Now, so that each moment of  life is not simply a means to an end but a life fully lived

On going classes are held at the Dummerston Community Center  ( classes are held from 9:30-1o:30 ) , at the Evening Stae Grange in Dummerston Center on Thursdays frim 5-6 ( starting 9/4), and ongoing at Putney Community Cares Center ( 5-6pm on Tuesday evenings and at 9-10 and 10:30-11:30 Friday mornings.) Call Helen Hawes at 802-254-6881 or email helenrhawes@gmail.com . Put Tai chi in the subject line!

BALANCE

This class through simple but profound Qui Gong postures and tai chi movements will help us regain our balance, trusting our bodies and the ground we stand on. The exercises teach us to hold the opposites and help open the original pathways of our meridians , designed to carry the vibrancy of our Chi to all the organs in our bodies. Keeping these pathways open and flexible,  while lowering our center of gravity by bringing our gentle awareness into our body, can ripple effect into our  relationships and all our daily activities .  No matter your size, shape, age, or experience , all are welcome.

TAI CHI CIRCULAR FORM

Circles are an essential shape in all life forms.  We endlessly cycle through birth death and rebirth; ferns unfolding, DNA spiraling, shedding skins, collaborating in the mandala of life.  By following the wise ecology of nature and aligning with its rhythms, Tai Chi and focusing teach us how to use minimum effort to receive maximum benefits.

The originator of the circular form I teach is Chungliang Al Huang. I learned the form from Cielle Tewksbury, a poet, dancer, and Tai Chi Teacher extraordinaire. My teacher of forty years before and into the present is Arthur Goodridge.  He taught me the wisdom of playing with the energy, not taking myself so seriously. My Focusing teacher Eugene Gendlin embodied unconditional listening, the greatest gift we can give our bodies , minds ,hearts ,and fellow beings.
